The Cedars of Lebanon

Psalm 146:16 The trees of the LORD are full of sap; the cedars of Lebanon, which he hath planted;

"Lebanon's cedars are emblematic of the Christian, in that they owe their planting entirely to the Lord. This is quite true of every child of God. He is not man-planted, nor self-planted, but God-planted. The
mysterious hand of the divine Spirit dropped the living seed into a heart which he had himself prepared for its reception..."
 - Charles Spurgeon    Morning and Evening

A classic from the great teacher.
There is power in scripture. From every phrase and imagery to each object and character, God is revealed. Revealed with awe and wonder. His word is deep for those plunging deep and a fountain to those in need of drink.

The precious and stately tree of scripture; the Cedars of Lebanon. These majestic evergreens are found in the high rocky terrain of Mt.Lebanon. Over 8 feet in diameter and surpassing 100 feet as it reaches toward heaven. It's tender shoots are found emerging out of rocky cliffs. The aged mature cedars appear to have their anchor in nothing but pure granite.

A picture of the true heir of God. You and I are planted by God. He alone is our keeper, gardner, and husbandmen. We are not in need of any man or some other to care for us. Our maker and creator watches over us. We are precious, evergreen, aromatic, and strong. Our roots tightly grip the solid rock in which we are planted. This rock is Jesus, our anchor and strength.

Oh to see the Cedars of Lebanon. Many have journeyed to view their beauty. They are unique in shape and form. No other... in all the earth... compares to their design.

See yourself hidden in Christ. A beauty; a marvel; raised and kept by your creator. Stand firm in the Lord. What a stately creation and wonder you are !
