Who's got the wheel

There’s a stunning scene in Steven Spielberg's movie “Lincoln.” He is in the war room with his
cabinet re-emphasizing his insistence of passage regarding the 13th amendment, the
abolition of slavery. His cabinet is in disarray. Congress is divided. In frustration of the malaise
from his own secretary’s inability to lobby congress signaled the likelihood of failure in the legislature.
Lincoln saw the beacon of righteous light dim in their eyes. This impasse had reached it’s fevered pitch.
What Abraham Lincoln did in this moment altered the history of the world.
In the drawn sunlight of edens day, President Lincoln slaps his palms firmly on the table
as he rises from his seat. With his Secretary's and Congressional leaders impaled by his shadow,
a solemness enveloped the room as Lincoln spoke with the voice of thunder.

I am the President of these United States of America clothed with
IMMENSE Power!
You Will get me these votes. You Will pass this amendment. And I want it NOW NOW NOW.

Immense power... It’s hard to fathom. Even harder to define or explain. Who can posses such

power today?  Power...belongs to The Lord God Almighty. He is a terror of IMMENSE Power

For The Lord reigneth; let the earth rejoice; let the multitude of isles be glad thereof.
2 Clouds and darkness are round about him: righteousness and judgment are the habitation
of his throne. 3 A fire goeth before him, and burneth up his enemies round about. 4 His lightnings
enlightened the world: the earth saw, and trembled. 5 The hills melted like wax at the presence
of the Lord, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth. 6 The heavens declare his righteousness,
and all the people see his glory. 7 Confounded be all they that serve graven images, that boast
themselves of idols: worship him, all ye gods. 8 Zion heard, and was glad; and the daughters of
Judah rejoiced because of thy judgments, O Lord. 9 For thou, Lord, art high above all the earth:
thou art exalted far above all gods. 10 Ye that love the Lord, hate evil: he preserveth
the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked. 11 Light is sown
for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart. 12 Rejoice in the Lord, ye righteous;
and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness   Psalm 9

In the perspective of now. The world we see today all around us, is there a place on earth where there
is no ugliness caused by the dark path we have chosen? Within our cities, communities, our homes,
there is no family insulated from the consequence of some really really bad and horrible choices.
Consequences of sin? Is it not a messed up world? Have you really ever asked yourself
“Please tell me that somebody's at the wheel of this ship?”
So many lives enslaved, truly in prisons created by our own wicked transgressions.
Ravaged by hatred, overcome with greed, sick in evil., blinded by pride.
The shame of NOW is so dark; beyond description.
Every day, we hear or read of a new low. Turn your attention to this Psalm 97
Almighty God. What prevents Him from just running his hand right straight through
the middle of the earth and blast us all back into tiny atoms?
Is He not disgusted with us? One may ask, “Doesn’t He see ” ...oh He sees.
What holds him back?
“God isn’t late with his promise as some measure lateness. He is restraining himself on account of you.
Holding back the End because he doesn’t want anyone lost. He’s giving everyone space
and time to change.” 2 Peter 3:9 MSG
Close your mouth. You read it correctly. The Lord above still has Hope? The God who sees

all things, our hearts, the world, the darkness. remains hopeful of change.  “Hopeful in what?”
Does God know something we don't? This hope of God arises from the authority of the
only one who whispers in his ear.

20 he exerted (power) when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand
in the heavenly realms, 21 far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and EVERY NAME
that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. 22 And God placed all
things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church , 23 which is his
body the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.    Ephesians 1

The one on God's right side, the only one that bends the Almighty’s ear and whispers...
is the one who has all authority, dominion, and power over every name spoken., and
He is clothed with... I M M E N S E   Power
God has more confidence in us than we do in ourselves. Perhaps He knows His Son better than us.

He’s is personally, utterly, Godsmacked at the victory His own son over sin and death.
The Son whispers, “Father, I know him, and I know her too...I got this Father”
Rejoice, for unto you a savior has been born unto you; He is Jesus Christ the Lord.

Perhaps God even hums the tune of His angelic chorus.
God made us. Gave us life. Saw us sold and enslaved in sin. He loved us so much that
He bought us back. He purchased our pardon with the precious blood of His only son.  The Lamb of God
who takes away the sin of the world.
He's Got our back !
