Up In Flames

2 Corinthians 5:7 But we have this treasure
in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power
is from God and not from us.

What we possess in Christ is a limitless supply of heavenly treasures. It is the nature of trials and testings to remind us that all His treasure abides within our frail earthen vessel.

Such remarkable and priceless possessions are purified during the intense burning and removal of dross. "Our faith, being much more precious than gold though refined by the fire".

No mortal person is delighted in the furnace. Even Jonah despaired of life in the heat of the sun. In the heat we learn to trust not in the gourd but our God. What we have...is divine riches residing in earthen vessels.

Toils of life empties our strength...our confidence...pride; but not His treasure. We fall prostrate before our comforter and strength. Tears fall and heaven bends over backward; releasing the all surpassing power of our creator; till our cup runneth over.
